Some Mothers Do 'Ave 'Em

Frank attends an interview for a sales rep of a wholesale ironmongers. Unfortunately, he gets stuck in the lift then fails to impress the manager of the company by breaking an expensive bathroom thermometer with his door-knocking technique. His patience worn thin, the manager becomes short-tempered and shouts at his staff, who resign in protest. Frank leaves, confident of the outcome of the interview, only to get stuck in the lift again.

Frank and Betty are staying with Betty's brother George, a futuristic designer who has filled his house with remote-control gadgetry. They are expecting an important visit from Mr. Fletcher, the head of a building firm, who is interested in a demonstration of the devices in the house, so Frank is on his best behaviour. Unfortunately, Frank accidentally breaks the toilet, and his attempts to repair it lead to further chaos. As water from the leaking cistern seeps through the house, the others attempt to hide the mounting problems from Mr. Fletcher.

Betty's mother is ill, and Frank is sent across the road to call for a doctor. He calls upon his neighbour, a TV script writer, and asks to use his phone. After a certain amount of confusion over house numbers, the doctor arrives and declares there is nothing wrong with Betty's mother. Meanwhile, Frank realises he has unwittingly taken the writer's script and decides to return it. Whilst he is out, Betty locks up and goes to bed. Not wanting to disturb her, Frank decides to break into the house. What can possibly go wrong?

Frank and Betty are taking a second honeymoon, except that Frank is in the station toilet when the train arrives. He ends up having to run for it, manages to grab hold at the back, only to be dragged along the platform until he is eventually pulled inside by the angry guard and returned to Betty. At the seaside resort, the guest-house is somewhat dilapidated and the hapless pair manages to fall through the floorboards, and have to climb through a hole towards the hotel bar to escape.

Frank is visiting Betty in the hospital when he spills fruit squash on her bedspread. While trying to swap it with another one, he is mistaken by a doctor for another patient's husband, who has not visited her for weeks. The doctor gives Frank a stern talk and tells him to take his wife home. Frank returns later to find that all the other women on the ward have decided to go home too. He decides to wheel them all out, but gets lost in the maze of corridors, loses control of the bed down a slope and is catapulted into an ambulance, whereupon is he admitted to the hospital as a patient!

Frank has lost his job as a fireman after continually missing the fire-engine. Convinced he is a failure, he decides to act upon Betty's suggestion to consult a psychiatrist. The therapist takes him back through his past, where his catalogue of disaster convinces the psychiatrist that Frank really is a failure and beyond help. Frank leaves the consultation a happy man, oblivious to warning shouts from a workman across the street. Seconds later he is buried under tons of gravel being dumped from the back of a truck.
