After surviving the first assassination attempt, Yuki and Yuno put their diaries together to stop a student who booby-traps the school hallways with motion-activated bombs; Kurusu, a police officer holding a diary of his own, comes to their aid.

Yuki, horrified by what he saw at Yuno's house, goes with Yuno and Kurusu to see a cult leader, who holds the sixth diary; they agree to protect the leader from assassination in exchange for Minene.

The cult leader betrays Yuki and takes Yuno hostage, but not before Yuno manages to give him her cell phone so he can get away from the cultists and form a plan to rescue her.
