The Incredible Dr. Pol

As the clinic's 30th anniversary approaches, the Pols plan an old-fashioned pig roast after extracting a mouthful of porcupine needles from a dog and inseminating a cow, of course.

In the second episode, Dr. Pol, assisted by his son Charles, is faced with several difficult cases, including a Police Dog who is lethargic and losing weight for no obvious reason and an aggressive Terrier whose leg seems broken yet is normal according to his x-ray. If that weren't enough, Dr. Pol must also attend to several emergency farm calls. The first is at a dairy farm, where Dr. Pol must treat a cow with a twisted stomach. Later, another farmer needs help when he finds his cow, who birthed a healthy calf four hours earlier, down on the ground with a prolapsed uterus. This caseload could be a struggle for vets half his age, but Dr. Pol takes it all in stride. Meanwhile, Charles, who's visiting from LA, gains a renewed respect for his dad as he watches him navigate the emotional and physical demands of working as a farm vet.

As Dr Pol and Charles deal with herds of intractable farm animals, the older vet's energy impresses his son.

As if treating dogs for eating homework and injured pheasants weren't enough, there is a tornado storm warning forces the vet and his staff to retreat to the basement to continue there important work.

Spring fever strikes as the team deal with triple-booked appointments and Dr Brenda takes on a cow that weighs a ton.

It's the busy spring season and Dr Pol and right-hand woman Dr Brenda hope that a veterinary student from Iowa will join the team.
