The Night Caller

Tony, a disgraced and once highly regarded science teacher, now works as a black cab driver on the Liverpool streets. On the heels of a long shift Tony calls into a radio station and to his surprise makes it on air with the host Lawrence. They discuss the changing landscape of the city and soon form a bond that will change his life forever.

Tony is still buzzing with adrenaline from the hit-and-run and decides to clean the taxi, but he sees that it is damaged. While Rob puts him in touch with a dodgy garage owner, Tony wants to meet his hero Lawrence, and Ste is in a coma.

Tony is cared for in hospital by one of his former pupils and collapses when she tells him what he meant to her. The police come to question him, but Tony outsmarts them, while Rob is threatened to give Tony his address.

When Tony and Lawrence confront each other, Tony discovers that Lawrence lied about his cancer. As they get to talking, Tony confesses that he hit Ste, leading Lawrence to try to flee.
