The Palace

In 1988, Marlene from West Germany visits Berlin, the capital of the GDR. She can't believe her eyes when she sees Christine, who looks just like her, dancing on the stage of the Friedrichstadt-Palast.

In an effort to keep a hold of their stunning newfound sisterhood, Marlene crosses the border to the GDR to meet Christine again.

Both sisters are prepared to take big risks to get at the truth. Christine takes Marlene's passport and crosses the border to meet her father. Meanwhile, Marlene pretends to be Christine in the GDR.

A guest choreographer arrives at The Palace. Pretending to be ill, Marlene must convince the newcomer that it's essential she recover before she resumes dancing.

In order to be closer to her mother and sister, Marlene moves to East Berlin. But the crossings are adding up and she is under closer observation. At the Palace, the competition for lead dancer is on.

How can Marlene and Christine be in two places at once? The border crossings have been tracked by officialdom, now they will need family reconciliation and even miracles to resolve the big questions.
