A veteran married couple give cynical advice to the newlyweds who've moved in next door. In this pilot episode, the Woodcocks's argument about a pool table spills over into the Starks's house with surprising results.
Jeff and Eddie are shocked to discover that their wives are trading sex in exchange for new furniture, and determine to engage in a battle of the sexes to turn the tables on their scheming spouses.
Joy's jealousy is roused when she hears of Jeff's romantic proposal to Steph. As a result, she reminds Eddie that he never gave her an engagement ring, and so Jeff steps in to help Eddie give Joy the ring she always wanted.
Noticing the increasingly large pile of wood cluttering up their garage, Joy issues her husband with an ultimatum: use it or lose it. Desperate and out of options, Eddie looks to the Woodcocks to help him convince his wife to allow him to keep his stash in their garage.
Eddie attempts to pull the wool over Joy's eyes by lying about his whereabouts when he is practising with his band, but he underestimates his wife's guile and intuition.
Jeff is thrilled when his mother visits, but before long tension is building between him and Steph when he chooses his mother over her. Jeff goes to his neighbours for help, which only strenghthens the conflict.
