Simon Reeve embarks on another epic journey around the world, uncovering extraordinary stories from the southern hemisphere. The first leg sees Simon crossing the beautiful landscapes of Namibia and Botswana, having a close encounter with hungry cheetahs, visiting the world's largest diamond mine and making a gruelling crossing of the Kalahari Desert in the search of the famous San Bushmen.

This leg of the journey crosses South Africa, Mozambique and the beautiful Island of Madagascar. Simon comes face to face with the dramatic Zimbabwean refugee crisis, meets giant rats helping to clear land mines in Mozambique, eats soup made from the penis of the zebu (a type of ox), and visits a wild town where thousands of poor Madagascans are digging for sapphires.

Simon Reeve continues his travels along the Tropic of Capricorn, the line of latitude that cuts across South Africa, South America and Australia. On the Australian west coast, Simon witnesses the migration of the humpback whale. He meets a tough outback couple refusing to leave an asbestos polluted ghost town and a farmer attempting to eke a living out of a dustbowl.

Beginning in Chile, Simon crosses the Atacama desert and climbs 15,000 feet into the Andes. In Argentina he dodges angry South American bees as he hunts for honey with the indigenous Wichi people, and in Brazil he tastes the delights of Sao Paolo.
