In September 1963, the Lycée Voltaire, until then reserved for boys, became co-educational and welcomed girls for the first time. Even if there were only a few girls, this opening was a real revolution. The life of the school was turned upside down.

The Lycée Voltaire prepares for the start of the school year in 1963. For the first time, the school welcomes girls. If the headmaster is delighted with this experience, Bellanger, the general supervisor, is less convinced.

The first sports class has some surprises in store for the girls. They also have to elect a class leader. The day is hard for Bellanger because his nephew is sent to the disciplinary board.

The students have to prepare presentations in pairs. Simone is happy to see Jean-Pierre again when she works for Michèle, who is hoping to get a good grade. Annick meets her mother's new lover, whom she distrusts.

It's the beginning of the school year in January and Bellanger is excited to be back at school. The boys are misbehaving, which exasperates Michèle, who can't stand being treated like a child.

Jeanne, the school nurse, goes to the theatre with Denise. There she meets Irene, a very moving actress. On the way back, Denise meets Bellanger, who drives her home and tells her about his love affairs.

Annick is against the dissection of frogs and suggests stealing them. In exchange, she gives one hour of private tuition. The boys are enthusiastic about this idea. Simone, on the other hand, tells Michèle that she can just steal them herself.
