Wolves have become a prime object for behavioural research. Throughout Europe scientists are fascinated by the wolf’s amazing abilities. This is the story of three extraordinary migrators. Slavko covers a amazing distance. Wolf expert Hubert Potočnik follows Slavko’s tracks all the way from Slovenia to the Lessinia National Park in Northern Italy. Another migrator sets out from Eastern Germany. Having crossed dangerous rivers and roads, Alan finally reaches the border regions of Belarus. His odyssey is retraced by German biologist Ilka Reinhardt. Ligabue migrates from Parma in Northern Italy to the French Alps. His trail is monitored by Italian wolf researcher Francesca Marucco. It’s a project to answer one vexing question: What urges single specimens of the European wolf to undertake such breath taking and highly dangerous journeys?
