World's Biggest Shipbuilders

Two teams are building the Maersk Tangier, as well as the world's biggest jack-up rig the XLE4, in the South Korean shipyards of Okpo and Sungdong.

Workers face an incredibly heavy lift - hoisting a giant 3,000 ton leg well into position, with the help of the yard's floating crane.

The Tangier is welded together from 129 huge steel blocks. The challenges increase for the tanker team, while the rig team also feel the pressure.

The construction of the vessel's stern and bow starts in Poland. Meanwhile, the XLE4's hull is being completed in Korea.

Workers prepare for the delivery of the super tug's hull pieces in Norway. In South Korea, the Tangier will take to the open sea for the first time.

The Tangier has been completed, and has left port to begin her maiden voyage. Elsewhere, the super tug team race against the clock to finish the build.
