The incoming class is welcomed to Duel Academy, but Jaden finds a less-than-warm reception from freshman hot shot Chazz when he's challenged to a high-stakes duel.

Crowler tries to get Jaden kicked out by forging a love note from Alexis and sticking it in his locker. When he puts it in Syrus's locker by mistake, Syrus thinks it's for him and walks in on the girls in the spa.

On test day at Duel Academia, Instructor Cronos steals a new card shipment so that he can stack the deck against Judai and embarrass him in front of the entire school.

When Jaden and the crew wander into an abandoned dorm, they meet a duelist, who claims he's taken Alexis to the Shadow Realm, and unless Jaden duels him, he'll keep her there.

The duel between Jaden and Titan continues, with Jaden losing badly to Titan's demon monsters. Jaden discovers that the shadow game is fake when he hears Winged Kuriboh speak to him. Titan runs away. They continue the fight, Titan is swallowed by darkness and Alexis wakes up with a picture of her brother.
