James L. White

James L. White was an American screenwriter best known for his original screenplay for the 2004 film Ray, a biopic on Ray Charles. For his work on Ray, White received the Satellite Award for Best Original Screenplay and a BAFTA Award nomination for Best Original Screenplay. White was born in Mount Sterling, Kentucky. He was raised by his single mother in Mount Sterling, approximately 35 miles east of Lexington. A love of reading led White to pursue a career as a writer.
