Annie Murphy
Annie Murphy was a Canadian actress who was best known for playing the character Alexis Rose on the CBC sitcom "Schitt's Creek" (2015-). Born and raised in Ottawa, Murphy's desire to act was evident from a very young age. She would often find herself performing in front of friends and family, whether it was singing, dancing, or even just joking around, thus sparking what would soon become a lifelong love of entertaining. By her late teens and early 20s, Murphy decided to pursue her passion for acting more seriously. She soon began auditioning for film and TV roles in Canada, and before long was landing small parts on TV shows. Her very first screen role came in 2007 when she nabbed a part on the Canadian made-for-TV-movie "No Brother of Mine." Murphy continued auditioning for film and TV roles throughout the late 2000s, and quickly managed to puff up her acting resume with parts in the films "Story of Jen" (2008) and "Lick" (2010). In 2010 Murphy landed a small recurring role on the American/Canadian comedy series "Blue Mountain State" (2010-2011), which aired on the Spike network in America. Murphy continued landing bit parts on TV shows throughout the early 2010s. Then in 2015 she starred in all 10 episodes of the comedy web series "The Plateaus," in addition to writing one episode of the series. As luck would have it, 2015 proved to be a breakout year for Murphy. In addition to starring in "The Plateaus" she was also cast as Alexis Rose on the Canadian sitcom "Schitt's Creek." The series also starred comedy icons Eugene Levy and Catherine O'Hara, which put Murphy in good company for her portrayal of a spoiled formerly-rich girl trapped in a small town on the Canadian prairie.
