Sylvain White

Best known for his arresting visual style and use of special effects, director Sylvain White has worked with some of the greatest talents in show business. Born in Paris, White is the son of an American pro-basketball player and a French flight attendant. He attended university in France at La Sorbonne, and performed so well that he was given a scholarship to Pomona College in California where he double majored in Film and Video Production and Media Studies. During college, White worked with such visual luminary directors as Michel Gondry and Spike Jonze. Following his graduation, he found such success with his short film work that he found himself very much in demand. He spent years directing a series of impressive and critically acclaimed music videos in Europe, the United States, and Asia. Following his music video success, he debuted in the commercial sector with a campaign video for the Lugz brand, that was widely considered to be among the most ground breaking commercials in advertising history. White directed his very first film in 2002, a short entitled "Quiet"which won the Grand Jury Prize at the WorldFest International Film Festival. In 2007 he directed the high-energy step-dancing feature film "Stomp the Yard" featuring producer-songwriter Ne-Yo and actress Meaghan Good.
