Peter Sohn

While the bulk of the credit for the Pixar brand went to names like John Lassiter, Brad Bird, Pete Docter, and Andrew Stanton, many others contributed to the studio's wonder, including Peter Sohn. Though a vital animator on films from "Finding Nemo" (2003) to "Up" (2009), it wasn't until his first directorial feature, "The Good Dinosaur" (2015), that Sohn earned due recognition. Peter Sohn was born in The Bronx, New York to parents from Korea. During his tenure at CalArts, Sohn earned his first industry job contributing animation to the feature film "The Iron Giant" (1999), directed by future Pixar maven Brad Bird. Following a quick stint at Warner Bros., where he served as animator on "Osmosis Jones" (2001), Sohn worked on a string of Pixar films. He worked in the animation department on features including "Finding Nemo" (2003), "The Incredibles" (2004), and "Ratatouille" (2007), and contributed storyboard art to "WALL-E" (2008) and "Up" (2009). Sohn also contributed small voice acting roles to the aforementioned pictures, and was cited as the basis for the major character Russell in "Up." He made his directorial debut with the Pixar short "Partly Cloudy" (2009), which accompanied "Up" in its theatrical release. In the period to follow, Sohn contributed art, voice work, and creative input to Pixar projects like "Toy Story 3" (2010), "Brave" (2012), "Monsters University" (2013), and "Inside Out" (2015) before setting his directorial prowess to his first feature-length film, Pixar's "The Good Dinosaur" (2015).
