Fabien Frankel was a British actor who made headlines in early 2019 when it was announced that he was signed on as a castmember in the reboot of the groundbreaking cop drama "NYPD Blue" (ABC, 2019-). Frankel played Theo Sipowicz in the pilot of the reboot, the son of the hard-drinking cop Andy Sipowicz, played by Dennis Franz in the original series. For Frankel, being cast in a reboot of arguably one of the most important cop shows in the history of television proved to be a major boon to his fledgling career. The son of British actors Mark and Caroline Frankel, young Fabien, who was not even alive when the original "NYPD Blue" premiered on ABC in 1993, always wanted to follow his parents footsteps and join the acting trade. But before he was to take the plunge, however, Frankel decided it would be best to receive formal training. Hence, he enrolled in the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art, and then later the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art, which allowed him to learn the fundamentals of acting. Frankel went on to graduate from the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art in 2017. After graduation he made his professional stage-acting debut in an off-West End production of "The Knowing" in 2017. Shortly after he was cast in the romantic comedy "Last Christmas" (2019), directed by Paul Feig and starring Emma Thompson, who also co-wrote the script. But the biggest news of Frankel's young career occurred in 2019 when it was announced that he was cast in the pilot of the reboot of "NYPD Blue." Other actors who appeared in the pilot included Alona Tal and Kim Delaney, the latter of which starred in the original "NYPD Blue."
