Anna Savva

Anna Savva was born in the United Kingdom. She found her way into show businesses in the 1980s, both by way of acting and behind-the-scenes work. Savva performed on screen for the first time in a 1985 episode of the crime comedy TV series "Minder" (ITV 1979-1994). One year later, she crossed the threshold into the world of film for the hit comedy musical "Little Shop of Horrors" (1986), though this time not as an actor but as a puppeteer; the film famously featured a tremendous puppet in the role of its chief antagonist, a man-eating plant named Audrey II. The first half of the 1990s afforded Savva a fairly consistent stream of small screen work, including episodes "Prime Suspect" (ITV 1991), "London Is Burning" (ITV 1988-2002), and "The Chief" (ITV 1990-95), though she also landed her first proper film acting role in King Charles II biopic "Restoration" (1995), playing beside Robert Downey Jr. and Sam Neill. Savva stepped away from the acting game for the decade to follow, returning at last with a supporting role in the TV movie "Planespotting" (ITV 2005). She followed this part up with roles on popular series "EastEnders" and "Law & Order: UK" (ITV 2009-2014), as well as in films like "Exodus: Gods and Kings" (2014) and "Correspondence" (2016). Savva landed her first regular part on a television production upon the premiere of the period dramedy "The Durrells" (ITV 2016-), on which she played the character Lugaretzia.
