Jerry Falwell

Jerry Laymon Falwell Sr. was an American Baptist pastor, televangelist, and conservative activist. He founded the Thomas Road Baptist Church, a megachurch in Lynchburg, Virginia, as well as Liberty University in 1971 and Liberty Christian Academy in 1967. In 1979, he co-founded the Moral Majority, a prominent political lobby that helped mobilize evangelical voters in support of conservative causes.
