An 18th-century orphan named Tenma meets Libra Dohko, who recruits him into the Saintly Warriors while Tenma's friend Alone meets Pandora and learns that he is destined to become the vessel of Hades.

Tenma trains as a saint and meets Sasha, Alone's younger sister, who he discovers to be the reincarnation of Athena; when every living thing that Alone paints ends up dead, Pandora takes him to the cathedral, where the spirit of Hades possesses him.

Dohko and Shion look for Hades' soldiers in Tenma's hometown while Tenma confronts Alone.

Sasha learns the fates of Tenma and Alone, but represses her grief to carry on her role as Athena.

Minos, one of the strongest Specters, begins an assault on Sanctuary and encounters a rose garden.

Minos resists Albafica's "crimson zone" attack and proceeds toward the village.
