Undercover reporter Casasola discovers a gruesome decapitation, and the peculiarity leads the police to rule out an organized crime motive; in a museum, curator Elisa is horrified to discover fresh human remains on a ceremonial altar display.

Lt. Edith, accompanied by Mejía, goes to the Templo mayor to investigate the appearance of human remains in a ceremonial vessel.

Elisa sets up an altar of the dead in memory of her grandmother Susana, unaware that the witch entered her house; Casasola goes to live temporarily at the Griego's house, and with Elisa's help, they piece together the pattern behind the crimes.

In the early morning, subway guards see a mysterious figure enter the tunnels of the tracks. They find a backpack containing the genitals of a man. Elisa wakes up at home, frightened, and Yólotl is worried. Mondragón realizes that the crimes committed by the serial killer are reprisals for acts the victims committed in life. Reviewing the subway security videos, Mondragón and Casasola find the serial killer's Sanctuary; however, Edith finds it too much of a coincidence that Casasola knows so much about the Prophecies of the Florentine Code. Casasola is having nightmares remotely controlled by the Witch. Somehow, between dreams, Casasola witnesses that someone has set a body on fire in the middle of a chinampa in Xochimilco.

A decapitated and charred body appears on the Isla de las Muñecas, in Xochimilco. Casasola and El Griego arrive to continue their report on the saga of the "ritual killer." This crime increases the relevance of the ritual killer case and prosecutor Ibarra finds it necessary to hold a press conference. Casasola is sleepless, and exhausted; he has daytime visions of burning water. Mejía and Mondragón realize that Casasola always supported the ritual killer theory, and he led and distracted them with his speculations. Casasola is arrested by Mondragón before Olga's astonished gaze; he is accused of being the ritual assassin linked to the dire omens of the Aztec empire.

Mondragón interrogates Elisa and Bongó to look for more evidence to support her accusation against Casasola. Casasola manages to get out of custody, as the evidence against him is merely circumstantial. He interviews Beto, one of Aristeo's pederasty victims; he discovers the missing connection between the victims of the ritual killer. Santoyo doubts whether they will be able to publish an article about it. Elisa invites Yólotl to celebrate her graduation. In a cantina in the Historic Center, the Semanario Sensacional team, Elisa and Yólotl meet. Outside the Cantina, a strange procession of homeless people takes place: one of the beggars stands out, as he is wearing a human skin.
