Jovan Adepo

Jovan Adepo was an actor best known for his work on the HBO drama "The Leftovers" (HBO, 2015-17), and the acclaimed August Wilson adaptation "Fences" (2016). Born in Upper Heyford, Oxfordshire, UK, to a British mother from London and an African-American father from Chattanooga, TN, Adepo was raised in Waldorf, Maryland. After earning a B.A. in political science and philosophy from Bowie State University in 2011, Adepo moved to Los Angeles in the hope of becoming a writer. Once there, he fell into acting incidentally, booking the occasional commercial job to pay the bills, before realizing he had a real interest in the craft. He began taking classes, even studying under Dianne Hull at the Actors Studio. Adepo's first big break came in 2015, when he was cast in a supporting role on the HBO drama "The Leftovers" (HBO, 2015-17). The next year he made a guest appearance on an episode of "NCIS: Los Angeles" (CBS, 2009-), and enjoyed a highly successful film debut alongside Denzel Washington and Viola Davis in the Oscar-nominated screen adaptation of August Wilson's classic play, "Fences" (2016). Adepo continued his hot streak through 2017, with a supporting role in Darren Aronofsky's domestic drama "mother!" (2017), and scoring a lead role in the J.J. Abrams-produced World War II drama "Overlord" (2018).
