Clark begins to understand why he might have been sent to Earth. After waking from a nightmare in which something horrible was about to happen to Smallville, Clark heads to the cave to seek answers from Jor-El. His father tells him he must reunite the three crystals immediately, or a disaster of epic proportions will befall the planet - and even Clark will be unable to stop it.

Martha slips into a coma after inhaling kryptonite-irradiated spores. Clark loses his powers when he breathes in the same spores, but he is Martha's only hope for survival, and Lex continues his search for the truth about Clark.
