Caroline and Max take side jobs as baristas in order to learn how to use the cappuccino maker they bought for their cupcake business.

When Caroline's date stands her up, she and Max decide to take advantage of the hard-to-get reservation at a hip, new restaurant.

Caroline splurges on hair extensions and buys Max some new sheets. However, Caroline doesn't realise when she throws away the old set that Max's old pillowcase has sentimental value.

Caroline encourages Max to apply for a course at the Manhattan School of Pastry when she finds a brochure for the college hidden in her friend's bedroom.

On her first day at pastry school, Max is intrigued and distracted by irreverent class clown Deke. Meanwhile, Caroline is disappointed with the routine nature of her new job in the school's office, which she has taken to pay for Max's tuition fees.

Max realises that she may have romantic feelings for Deke as they study together for their pastry school exam, but she worries about ruining their friendship.
