As the school year begins, Marissa's classmates poke fun at her after hearing about her overdose in Mexico. She has broken up with Luke as a result of his cheating, but still feels torn. When Ryan tries out for the soccer team, he learns that the captain is none other than Marissa's ex-boyfriend. A crunching tackle on Luke then lands Ryan in trouble with Sandy and the coach.

When Seth tries to choose between dating Summer or Anna, he ends up in the middle of a very complicated situation. Meanwhile, Ryan visits his brother Trey in prison and is accompanied by Marissa, Julie is furious to find out that Marissa is with Ryan in Chino, and as everyone nervously waits at the Cohen house for Ryan and Marissa to return, tensions mount, making the holiday a Thanksgiving to remember.
