I, Superbiker: Split Second
I, Superbiker: Split Second intimately documents the thrilling 2014 British Superbike Season. The film intimately follows the great British hope, Shane 'Shakey' Byrne, a fearless racer who has already won three championships, but a fourth crown will make him the most winning UK racer ever. After narrowly missing out in 2013, he’s certain favourite to reap the glory. However, Japanese racer Kiyo can thwart Shakeys dreams, Kiyo too, has won three previous titles, and with his new thoroughbred monster, the German BMW, he has no intention of letting the Englishman walk away with superbike's most coveted prize. I, Superbiker also tracks James Ellison, the northern heartthrob who has been plagued by injury and bad luck, who now has to win to save his career. Newly married to his American sweetheart, and with a baby to support, he too has made incredible personal sacrifices to race, and now permanently lives in his mobile trailer in the remote Lake District to fulfil his dream of lifting the coveted crown. This documentary also looks at Tommy Bridewell, racing for the official Yamaha squad in memory of his dearly departed brother, Ollie, whom tragically died whilst racing. Finally Josh ‘Bad Boy’ Brookes, the red leather clad Australian out to steal the crown from the British hopefuls. The racer that arrived from 'Down Under' in 2009 was quickly banned for reckless behaviour, causing untold carnage at many race meetings. With outspoken opinions, Josh cuts a formidable presence in the paddock. One thing is for certain in British Superbikes... Anything can, and will happen...
