Perennial Light
Set in coastal Ireland, Perennial Light follows a young boy whose life is shaped by the sudden death of his closest friend. Raised in a quiet village near the coast, he shares a tender bond with a girl and her mother, finding comfort in their warmth and companionship. When tragedy strikes and the girl passes away, the boy is overwhelmed by grief. Unable to confront the loss, he retreats into isolation, haunted by thoughts of death and emotional uncertainty. As he moves into adolescence, his inner struggle deepens, marked by existential questions and difficulty forming meaningful connections. In adulthood, now a husband and father, the man carries the lasting effects of his unresolved trauma. Cold and distant, he struggles to engage fully with family life. His wife, whose nurturing spirit echoes that of the girl's mother, becomes his emotional anchor. Through her support, reflection, meditation, and his connection to the natural world, he begins to confront the pain he has long avoided. Perennial Light is a quiet, intimate portrait of grief, resilience, and the lifelong journey toward healing.
