Cody is practising for the spelling bee that's to be held in the hotel, while Zack's scrounging money to play in the arcade. Cody finds himself competing against someone who's lent Zack money.

Zack loses his skateboard in the lobby and a guest trips over it. Mr Moseby gives the injured man and his daughter a free suite and lots of gifts. Zack and Cody discover the guy is faking his injuries.

Mr Tipton is coming to visit. Rumours are rife: is he coming to give someone a big bonus, or fire someone? It's a chance to look back at the best and worst behaviour.

The boys want some independence now they are getting older. Mum lets them go to the cinema alone, but, when they see a horror film instead of the family one Mum agreed to, Zack has nightmares.

Zack and Cody try to nurse their mum, who has flu, but prove pretty useless at it. Competition is fierce for Employee of the Month when Moseby offers a big prize.

Cody gets the job as editor of the school newspaper and appoints Zack as agony aunt. He proves very popular until he abuses his role by advising a girl he likes to go out with him.
