A meek alien obtained from a commerce planet incites mysterious paranoia among the crew and begins to slowly take over the Moya.

Frustrated by his inability to decode part of Crichton's stolen neural chip, Scorpius implants it into his own mind. However, the result is a journey into his own memories.

When Moya passes through an electromagnetic cluster, Crichton begins having strange blackouts and bouts of bleeding. Initially, the crew believe he is simply exhausted by his relentless search for wormholes, until he tests his theory by recording the entire crew together in the Centre Chamber.

Crichton, Aeryn and Crais are received with honour aboard Scorpius's command carrier, with Scorpius promising amnesty in exchange for Crichton's cooperation on wormhole technology. Scorpius and Crichton are linked by neural receptor bracelets - however, Crichton is playing a dangerous game.

Crichton's plan to destroy Scorpius' development of wormhole technology is stalling. While he will do anything to stop Scorpius, his companions may not be so committed.
