Sherlock takes a case from a man that claims he is Moriarty, in the hope that it will bring him closer to finding his nemesis. Meanwhile, Gregson suggests to Joan to give up the line of work she has chosen and go back to being a sober companion.

Donald Hauser, a wealthy manager in the midst of a financial scandal, is found dead in his flat. Sherlock quickly suspects Chloe Butler, a friend of Watson's who prepared the victim's meals.

Holmes and Watson work with the NYPD to investigate the murder of a police officer, while Sherlock also has a personal mystery to solve.
