Ryûnosuke Kamiki

Since the tender age of two, Japanese actor Ryunosuke Kamiki has been steadily working in show business. Though he scarcely remembers when his mother first signed him up with a talent agency, he racked up several credits in commercials and TV shows before winning his first significant role in the series "Happy Mania" in 1998. The year 2000 brought Kamiki roles in the Japanese TV series "Namida o fuite" and "Quiz," and in 2001 the eight-year-old actor voiced the character of Boh in Hayao Miyazaki's groundbreaking animated movie "Spirited Away." Following the worldwide success of this film, Kamiki acted in the feature comedy "Rokkazu," the Tokyo-set crime film "Bayside Shakedown 2," and the mini-series "Boku no mahô tsukai," among others. Returning to voice work in 2004, Kamiki next lent his vocal talents to yet another Miyazaki blockbuster, "Howl's Moving Castle," followed by a voice characterization in the animated drama "The Perfect World of Kai." In 2006, Kamiki was nominated for Newcomer of the Year at the Japanese Academy Awards, and in the next few years he became one of the most sought-after young talents in Japan, rising to teen heartthrob status with his roles in features like "Summer Wars" and "The Secret World of Arrietty."
