Since 1963, a unique railway line has traversed Mauritania and its oceans of sand. The 2.5-kilometre-long desert train, with more than 100 wagons, was built to transport iron ore to the Atlantic coast and has become a vital means of transport for the desert inhabitants.

The monk seal is one of the most mysterious and endangered marine mammals in the Mediterranean. Around 500 of them live in Greek and Turkish waters, lurking in hard-to-reach underwater caves. A team from a Swiss foundation is using ultra-sophisticated cameras to try to learn more about their way of life, in the hope of better protecting them.

Human beings have always dreamed of being able to fly. This dream has come true thanks to the largest wind tunnel in Europe located near Milan. Initially designed for aeronautics and aerospace, these indoor simulators are now open to all. A new sport has emerged thanks to these massive wind tunnels: part athlete, part dancer, and part bird, sportsmen and women have learned to tame the 200km winds to create something beautiful. Among them is Laurie Lubbe, who is preparing for the French freestyle championship.

Their ancestors fiercely resisted the US Army, until finally, near the Canadian border, the chief laid down his arms with the words, "I will fight no more, forever." On this journey through time, they encounter impressive wild animals such as bison and grizzly bears, and they come to places that still bear the names and traces of their ancestors.

Hundreds of thousands of cats roam the streets of Turkey’s largest city. If they seem well fed and healthy, it's thanks to the locals who take care of them, sometimes very generously. It's an old tradition dating back to Ottoman times.

Although boxing is a popular sport in Cuba, women were for a long time banned from competing in the ring. But in 2023 the ban was lifted and Cuba will be sending a female boxing team the Olympic Games in 2024.
