Homicide detective Tess Avery, diagnosed as blind, teams up with Sunny Patel, a remote guide, to solve crimes; using tech and trust, they tackle cases while challenging notions of ability and boundaries.

When the hit and run victim from one of Tess' former cases awakes from a coma, Sunny encourages Tess to track down new leads even though she's no longer on the force.

When Tess inserts herself into Jake's investigation to find the identity of a dead John Doe, she confronts conflicting emotions - fearing for her brother Lucas' life while driven to do the thing she loves most: solve the case.

Jake encourages Tess to talk to Superintendent Bennett about getting her old job back, but her hopes are cut short by his offer to join the Metro PD only to ride a desk; a woman killed in her delivery van allows Tess to bring justice to a victim.

A murder hits close to home when one of Matt's colleagues is found dead in the college pool where Tess swims; Mia offers her unexpected skills to the case; Matt sees a new side of Tess, leading to an unexpected moment between them.

When Lucas comes to Tess' apartment in the middle of the night claiming he just needs a place to crash, Tess is quick to realise something is up.
