Russ Mayberry

It's a long way from Glasgow, Scotland to the sound stages of Southern California. But Russ Mayberry made the unlikely transatlantic move with great success, becoming a prolific director of American prime time staples such as "The Six Million Dollar Man" and "The Brady Bunch." All told, Mayberry worked on more than 70 different series during his career, beginning substantially in 1969 with 10 episodes of "That Girl." Mayberry also became a favorite creative partner of "Six Million Dollar Man" writer-producer Glen A. Larson. The pair collaborated on a number of other manly mystery and action entries including "McCloud," "The Fall Guy" (again with Majors) and "Magnum, P.I.." Before retiring in the mid-1990's, Mayberry wrapped up his long and illustrious TV directing career by, appropriately enough, uniting with another old timer whose stardom once was all about the town of Mayberry. That would be Andy Griffith, with whom Mayberry collaborated on a quartet of "Matlock" episodes.
