Night at the Crossroads

S2, E1: Crime drama adapted from the novel by Georges Simenon. Chief Inspector Maigret faces a wall of silence from the eccentric inhabitants at a remote crossroads as he investigates the murder of a Jewish diamond dealer, who was killed in the dead of night. The body is discovered in a car belonging to Carl Anderson, a Dane living with his sister in a crumbling mansion. Assuming the Andersons are guilty, local police Inspector Grandjean calls his old friend Maigret to intercept the Andersons as they flee to Paris by train. But Maigret is not convinced, and takes control of the investigation.
