Mute Lalloo and his mother work for the local Zamindar. Zamindar's daughter Lali is considered unlucky. Twice widowed, no one is willing to risk a third marriage with her. When Lallu suddenly gets his voice back, his mother takes up the challenge and offers Lallu's hand in marriage for Lali.
