A man, working a simple job despite his qualifications, meets another man who is on the verge of suicide. Convincing him to stay alive and then move in with him, he helps him find a job, which in turn finds him a wife. When he himself finds what he thinks may be a suitable wife he sends a picture to his new found friend for approval, but he reproaches him over his choice and is elusive in his reasons why.
