Sasanam

The story opens through a flashback of a middle-aged man, Ramanathan alias Muthaiah, hailing from the Chettiar community, and residing in Jankanur, Karaikudi situated in South Tamilnadu. Due to family circumstances, he is adopted by another family, despite his parents being alive. He has a charming wife, Visalakshi. Their only sorrow is that their baby got aborted and they are longing to have one.
