While Phoebe and Joey wait at a fancy restaurant for their friends' arrival to celebrate Phoebe's birthday, Rachel is delayed because she is afraid to leave Emma with a babysitter. Monica and Chandler also fail to arrive on time after having a row about Chandler's urge to resume smoking and then giving in to other urges.

Chandler is forced to remain in Tulsa over the Christmas period due to a major deadline at work, and Monica fears the worst when she finds out that he will be joined in Tulsa by a beautiful colleague Wendy. While he works, Chandler recalls some of the more embarrassing moments from previous holidays shared with his friends.
