The series of murders in Mystic Falls reminds Damon of a similar crime spree 100 years before, and he recalls learning a new way to live from a beautiful vampire named Sage in 1912. Meanwhile, Sheriff Forbes tells him to stay out of the murder investigation, but he is sure that she is pursuing the wrong suspect. Elsewhere, Elena and Matt go to extreme lengths to try to prove that Meredith is a killer.
