Alex Guarnaschelli and Gabe Bertaccini welcome ten chefs to the Tuscan villa where they will live, cook and prove their skills with Italian cuisine.

The chefs visit authentic Italian nonnas before Alex Guarnaschelli and Gabe Bertaccini ask them to take on a pasta challenge. Then, the competitors are inspired by an Italian bakery and create a menu incorporating bread into every dish.

Alex Guarnaschelli and Gabe Bertaccini preside over a cooking duel to see which previously eliminated chef will earn a spot in the finale. The winner joins the finalists to cook one last meal and win a culinary education with renowned chefs.

The nine remaining chefs travel to Otranto, Italy, where they purchase fresh seafood right from the docks. Then, judges Alex Guarnaschelli and Gabe Bertaccini task the chefs with their most difficult challenge yet.

The eight remaining chefs are transported to a well-known Tuscan vineyard, where the judges ask them to make a three-course menu with truffles and wine pairings, meant for a restaurant, while the threat of elimination looms over the chefs.

Two team captains join Alex Guarnaschelli and Gabe Bertaccini on a visit to a thousand-year-old cheese cave. After an invaluable cheese tasting, the two leaders must purchase their main ingredients befoire they are given the details of the challenge.
