Lekar Hum Deewana Dil

Tara's wedding begins as her bhabhi burns every memory of her lover Suraj. At the mandap, Samrat promises to stand by her forever, making Tara decide to leave her past behind. After the wedding, their car breaks down near a Peepal tree. Samrat cuts its sacred RakshaSutra despite Tara's warning. A branch suddenly falls, narrowly missing him, while Tara unknowingly leaves her anklet behind.

Tara and Samrat sit in the car and leave but the peepal leaves follow them. Tara's grihapravesh takes place in Tribhuvan Bhawan and Tara and Samrat's room is decorated with dried peepal leaves which Samrat throws out. Samrat gives Tara a knife as a gift and says that both of them will have to prove their love by stabbing each other. Samrat ties Tara with a rope and throws the knife.

Samrat throws a knife at Tara, but she escapes unharmed. Terrified, Tara runs out as the family gathers. Samrat calms her, promising not to frighten her again. Meanwhile, his brother tells Tribhuvan that Tara should leave Samrat just like his first wife did. The next morning, during a family ritual, Tara learns the shocking truth from her mother-in-law-Samrat was married before.

Tara learns from her mother-in-law that Samrat's first wife left him. When Samrat tries to get close to Tara by force, a gust of wind carrying Peepal leaves pulls him away. Tara believes the strange events began after he cut the sacred RakshaSutra and vows to protect him. During her first rasoi, she's forced to wear a family bracelet as eerie Peepal leaves return.

At a party where Samrat presents Tara as his "Devi," Riya reveals Tara's past relationship with Suraj. Enraged, Samrat drags Tara home, locks all the doors and windows, and sends the family away. He strips off her jewelry, calls her characterless, and raises a whip against her. Outside, Leifman desperately struggles to get inside and stop the horrifying scene.

Samrat brutally whips Tara while the family remains silent, and Leifman fails to break in to save her. The next morning, Tara finds her wounds treated with ointment, but Samrat denies applying it. Later, her mother-in-law stops her from praying to God and instead makes her perform Samrat's aarti. Tribhuvan then orders Tara to sit before Lord Shiva alone to atone for her "sins."
