A grieving husband, Madhav, is advised by his step-brother, Sangram, to perform the last rites of his wife, Chitra, to stop the strange events happening in the house. Madhav's step-mother, Neelambari, decides to do a fast without water until Madhav immerses Chitra's ashes. Madhav's father, Narayan Thakur, realises his wife's evil intention of getting Madhav remarried to usurp the property. To prevent this, he asks Madhav's childhood friend, Vaidehi's hand in marriage from her grandmother.

Nilambari informs a man, whose identity is yet to be disclosed, about being successful in getting rid of Chitra's ashes. Pleased with herself, Nilambari decides to rest, but Chitra drastically lowers the AC's temperature. Madhav's ring weakens Chitra's powers when he comes rushing into Nilambari's room. Meanwhile, Vaidehi prepares Madhav's favourite sweet dish from his childhood and her clothes catch fire while doing so. Madhav douses it and chides Vaidehi for being irresponsible.

When Nilambari asks Madhav to remarry, he vehemently refuses and leaves. Laltain reminds Madhav of his childhood memories with Vaidehi and requests him to talk to her nicely. Agreeing with Laltain, Madhav asks Vaidehi to prepare the sweet dish again. Later, Narayan convinces a naive Vaidehi to marry Madhav to which she readily agrees and follows him to his office to give him the news. Meanwhile, Vaidehi's attempts to please and take care of Madhav are rendered futile by Chitra.

Narayan brings some gifts for Vaidehi and asks her to talk to Madhav about their marriage. Vaidehi pretends to be in trouble to get Madhav out of the office, but he gets angry when he comes to know that it was a ruse. Rani shows Jaichand, her husband, the necklace she stole from Chitra's cupboard. When one of the priests who had come with a marriage proposal badmouths Madhav, Nilambari slaps him. Meanwhile, Vaidehi calls Madhav by flying a kite, just like they used to when they were little.
