Sue travels from the sacred summit of Shivling, source of the Ganges, to the beautiful mountain town of Rishikesh. Along the way, she meets some Hindu holy men known as sadhus, wealthy tycoons, as well as local families to find out what the future holds for this great river.

The Gangetic Plain is where the ancient and modern collide. From the sacred city of Varanasi to Patna, a city fast becoming India's Silicon Valley. It's here also that the Ganges faces its greatest threats from dams, pollution, industry and agriculture.
