Marshall and Ted take a road trip to Chicago for a nostalgic bachelor's adventure. Unfortunately for Ted, Marshall has asked Lily along and consequently, their plans change.

The half-eaten body of a doctor is found in the tiger cage at the zoo following a hospital charity event, and Booth and Brennan determine the death was no accident. The team soon identifies the victim as Dr. Andrew Welton, and Cam reveals that she was engaged to Welton and lived with him 10 years ago. Though she is devastated by the loss, she nonetheless joins in the investigation to help find Dr. Welton’s killer for the sake of his 16-year-old daughter who Cam once helped raise, potentially creating a life-changing situation for Cam. The team pieces together Dr. Welton’s final evening as they question the suspects, including Brandon Casey, whom Sweets and Angela must hypnotize in order to jog his memory about what he saw the night of the gala. Meanwhile, lust is in the air at the Jeffersonian and Angela is obsessed by sexual thoughts as she tries to maintain her self-imposed celibacy.

Dr. Fuentes continues her quest to remake the hospital in her vision. Max goes the extra mile to help a patient in need. Dr. Sharpe and Iggy find themselves at odds over a very serious issue. Reynolds discovers the importance of personal obligations.

Castle is captured and forced to work with strangers to solve deranged puzzles and mind games, while Beckett and the 12th precinct must race against time to rescue Castle and catch a killer.

Sarah becomes embroiled in a bitter battle with Joe for custody of their children, but Joe insists that Sarah's inability to balance work and home commitments means the kids will enjoy a more stable environment if they live with him. Elsewhere, Kitty's surprise Halloween announcement has consequences for the entire Walker family, but causes huge tension between her and Robert.
