A 56-year resident, Sam, makes the most of what he has. In order to extend the wear of his boots using mink oil, he must first find and trap the minks on the island to keep his boots in good condition.

As the fisherman head out to sea again, Sam tries to hunt down a fresh haul of halibut. As the winter months draw a close, some new opportunities open whilst others near their end.
