Candice Bergen and Jacqueline Bisset star as two close friends who leave college to lead very different lives on opposite coasts--only to envy each other as they both dream of being rich and famous. Liz Hamilton (Bissett) becomes a well-respected if not best-selling writer living in Manhattan. Merry Noel Blake (Bergen) gets married, moves to California and grows to envy her friend's success.
