The Youth 騷動青春
An omnibus film consist of 5 shorts: Go Out, The Rumor, Wonderwall , Enemies All Around and Play Girl . Young filmmakers captured youthfulness in attractive episodes to show how they react to the world of violence and insensitivity. The Rumor, directed by Kim Jinmoo, criticizes the frequently beautified idea of childhood friendship. The film provides a rough portrait of blind worship of power and hypocrisy in the world of young students. Wonderwall, directed by Park Gahee, is a boisterous story of a man about to start military service. The story begins with a paradox of Jonggu, who tries to join the military after accidently scratching the car of a neighborhood gangster. This action film portrays the irony of the military, often considered as a jail for young men, becoming a shelter from a gangster. Enemies All Around, directed by Ju Seongsu, is a story about three young men who meet online and rob a small local bank. Their robbery succeeds, but they realize that the amount of money mentioned in the news is different from what they stole. The mutual suspicion finally leads them to destroy each other, and in the end, the reality reveals its true nature of distrust and violence. Finally, Play Girl, directed by Jung Wonsik, shows a bullying game of delinquent high school students during a school trip. It portrays how violence as a means to release constrained energy of teenage girls finally invites tragic ending.
