Kyoko is a 16-year-old girl falling in love with the boy next door, Kaito. She is also coping with the terminal illness of her mother, finding solace in the tranquil waters surrounding their island community. Kaito, too, is confronted with death and family turmoil - he finds a dead body on the beach and is overwhelmed by the confusion its mystery brings, taking it out on his struggling single mother.
