In Those Days

Mikito Tsurugi (Matsuzaka Tori) is a directionless young man struggling with failed university dreams and a lack of career prospects. Feeling lost, he discovers a passion for Hello! Project idol music videos, which leads him to form a band with like-minded fans. The group develops a small cult following and forms a strong friendship. However, their camaraderie is tested when one of the band members is diagnosed with terminal lung cancer. Facing this devastating news, the friends must come together to support their dying companion and reflect on their shared experiences. Based on a true story and an autobiographical essay, the film explores themes of friendship, youth, and finding meaning in unexpected places. This is a 2021 Japanese movie directed by Rikiya Imaizumi.
