Chris Pang is an Australian actor who broke out in the United States in 2016 when he joined the cast for the second season of the hit adventure drama "Marco Polo" (Netflix 2014-). Born and raised in Melbourne, Australia, Pang had no intention of ever becoming a professional actor. His parents were both accomplished martial arts instructors, and Pang spent the better part of his childhood studying the centuries-old craft. After spending many of his formative years focusing on martial arts, Pang got the acting bug and began auditioning for film and TV roles in his native Australia. He landed a couple of bit parts in Australian films and TV shows in the late 2000s, before landing his first big break as one of the leads in the action-adventure film "Tomorrow, When the War Began" (2010). The film was a box office hit in Australia, thus catapulting Pang into the spotlight in his homeland seemingly overnight. With the success of "Tomorrow, When the War Began," the roles began pouring in for Pang. Over the next few years he appeared in films like "Citizen Jia Li" (2011), "I, Frankenstein" (2014), and "First of the Dragon" (2014). In 2016 he was cast in one episode of the action series "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon: Sword of Destiny" (Netflix, 2016-), and followed that up by landing his breakout role as Arban on the second season of "Marco Polo" (Netflix, 2014-). With his acting career in America already on the rise, Pang further increased his profile in the spring of 2017 when he was cast in the big budget studio adaptation of the popular Kevin Kwan novel "Crazy Rich Asians." The film also starred Constance Wu and Gemma Chan.
